The Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU) provides assessment, diagnosis and treatment with the aim of getting patients home safely on the same day, without the need for an overnight stay or admission to hospital. The Unit is staffed by our team of Acute Physicians, with input being given by specialist teams. Acute Medical Unit. The AMU primary role is to provide a rapid definitive assessment, investigations and treatments for patients admitted as an emergency by their GP or who require admission from the emergency department.
